Commuters are set to get vastly improved access to Derby's railway station with a revamped car park, new taxi rank and bus terminus, costing £3 million. (Sourced from Evening Telegraph.)

As part of the regeneration plan a derelict rail building next door will also be brought back into use as office space.

Already £22 million has been spent on revamping the station, improving the crumbling platforms and replacing canopies.

East Midlands Development Agency and European Regional Development Fund are putting up £1.75 million for work on the interchange outside the station entrance, along with £50,000 from Derby City Council.

A further £1.3 million has been secured from Emda, Network Rail and the Railway Heritage Trust for the office plans.
