Construction has started on the first phase of Metropolitan Housing Partnership’s residential scheme located on the corner of King Street and St Helen’s Street.

The development is to deliver 180 eco-friendly apartments for sale and rent. It was held up by the recession but work has now begun on the scheme, which received a £2 million grant from Derby Cityscape and the Homes and Communities Agency three years ago.

Regional development manager at Metropolitan Housing Partnership - Midlands, Debbie Higgins said: "We know that Derby is a great place to be investing and we are excited to be supporting the growth and regeneration of the city centre. I am confident that the development will be welcomed by the people of Derby."

Phase one, the creation of 40 rental apartments, should be completed by August 2010. For more information: www.mhp-online.co.uk/
