Derby's Chamber of Commerce has reiterated its belief that business red tape should be cut in response to the Queen's speech this week.
The Chamber argues that over-burdening the companies that will help us climb out of recession is counter-productive.
Richard Wilkins, President of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "The Queen's opening remarks made it clear that the government's overriding priority is to reduce the UK's £156bn budget deficit, which will determine the success of several key aspects of its legislative agenda.
"The Chamber has long campaigned for a reduction in the unnecessary red tape and regulations being placed on firms and it is step in the right direction that the government has broadly chosen to avoid placing additional administrative burdens on wealth-creating businesses.
"With regard to the proposed Airport Economic Regulation Bill, anything which helps to improve the customer experience has to be a good thing and our local East Midlands Airport has an excellent long-standing reputation in this area. However, a main aim of this bill to increase the competitiveness of UK airports could be undermined by the government's proposed changes to aviation taxation."
