Committed to creating local jobs and strengthening communities, Bramall Construction has taken on the new recruits to teach them the skills of the trades and to provide long-term career opportunities.

The apprentices range from the age of 17 to 21 and are set to be trained in bricklaying and joinery. The local apprentices live across Derby with some travelling from areas such as Alvaston and Chaddesden

Damian Moorecroft, aged 20, was taken on by Bramall in April after being made redundant from his previous job at the end of last year. Damian, from Chaddesden, is an apprentice bricklayer and is studying for an NVQ level 3 on day release at Mason’s College, Derby.

Damian said: "Bricklaying is something I’ve been into from leaving school and when I was told I was being made redundant I asked at the building site if there were any vacancies. I was really lucky that Bramall were recruiting apprentices at the time."
