The city of Derby is celebrating a trio of award victories, highlighting the quality of the regeneration projects taking place in the city.
The Roundhouse development at Derby College and the footbridge in Cathedral Green were both singled out at recent awards ceremonies.

Secret Millionaire backs bid

Kavita Oberoi, founder of Derby-based Oberoi Consulting and star of Channel Four’s Secret Millionaire show, has shown her support for derby’s bid to host group stage matches during the 2018 World Cup.
Cities around the country are currently forming their strategies to secure the games in a bid to secure some of the prestige and increased numbers of visitors and business opportunities they would bring.

Two of Derby’s regeneration success stories played host to the Design Conversations event held by URC Derby Cityscape on 23 September 2009.
The QUAD cinema provided the backdrop for the first half the day, while attention shifted to the impressive Roundhouse development at Pride Park for the afternoon session.

Airport announces big expansion

Airline bmibaby has announced a massive expansion plan at East Midlands Airport, including new routes and additional frequency to increase the airlines’ capacity by 40%.(Sourced from Marketing Derby.)
The expansion plan will mean that an additional 350,000 passengers will fly with the airline in 2010, and an additional 2,872 flights will be operated by the airline next year from the airport. read more
