Miller homes extends new scheme in Derbyshire

Award-winning housebuilder Miller Homes East Midlands has extended a Government-backed scheme that has successfully increased confidence in the new homes market. (Story sourced from Derbyshire Property News)
 
The Homebuy Direct (HBD) scheme means that those who qualify have the opportunity to purchase 100 per cent of a property by paying only 70 per cent of the value, with both Miller Homes and the Government equally funding the remaining 30 per cent. read more

Jurys Inns go on expansion trail with £60m fund

Jurys Inns Group has shrugged off the credit squeeze and subdued conditions in the hotels sector by announcing a £60 million (€70 million) fundraising and a major expansion plan for the UK and mainland Europe. (Story sourced from the Irish Times)
 
The fundraising completed last week was sourced from Jurys Inns’ existing owners Quinlan Private and the Oman Investment Fund as well as from the group’s existing bankers. read more

Minister's praise for Uni and national park

Environment Minister Hilary Benn congratulated the University of Derby at Buxton on its sustainability and capacity for regeneration during a visit on Friday. (Sourced from the Buxton Advertiser)
 
Calling in at the Devonshire Dome campus during a tour of the Peak District, Mr Benn said he was impressed by the way in which the splendid building had been brought back into public use. "What the University has done here is fantastic," he said. read more

Demolition in Derby as site cleared for new social housing

A site in Penalton Close in Allenton has been cleared to make way for the building of a mixed tenure development that will include new homes for social housing tenants in Derby. (Story sourced from here)
 
The building project is a partnership between Derby Homes, the arms length management organisation that manages and maintains council properties in Derby, and building company Strata Homes.

Consultants appointed to redesign Debenhams area

A team of consultants has been chosen to come up with a plan for regenerating the Becket Well area of the city – including the former Debenhams store. (Story sourced from "Derby Telegraph").
 
Derby Cityscape, the urban regeneration company spearheading the £2bn redevelopment of the city centre, has chosen a consultancy team which will be led by Scott Wilson Ltd and include expertise from Maber Architects.
