The Inspiring Derby 2009 event is being organised by Derby City Partnership, which brings together organisations and individuals working for the further improvement of the city of Derby.

Derby’s annual Property and Business Investment Show was a huge success. Over five hundred delegates flocked to the event, held in May 2009, despite the economic downturn, and were treated to a day of well-received seminars and useful exhibitions.

Work begins on eco-friendly homes

Construction has started on the first phase of Metropolitan Housing Partnership’s residential scheme located on the corner of King Street and St Helen’s Street.
The development is to deliver 180 eco-friendly apartments for sale and rent. It was held up by the recession but work has now begun on the scheme, which received a £2 million grant from Derby Cityscape and the Homes and Communities Agency three years ago.

Roundhouse handover

The redevelopment of one of the city’s most significant historic buildings made meaningful progress this month, as the grade II-listed Roundhouse, once part of Derby Loco Works, was officially handed over to Derby College.
Set to open in September, the building, which dates from 1839, is set to take centre stage at the college’s Pride Park campus. It will become a new social space with dining facilities and visitor information.
