Awards success for Derby Homes

Derby Homes was named runner-up in the recent National Federation of ALMOs (NFA) Awards, which contains 69 member organisations across England.
Derby Homes claimed second place in the Most Innovative Project of the Year Award, for its Home2Work Scheme, at the ceremony at Manchester's Midland Hotel.

City’s park life boost

Derby residents were celebrating earlier this month when their parks received £142,500 from a £1 million grant by The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG).
The fund is dedicated to develop 11 parks across the UK, with Derby's share earmarked for Markeaton Park.
Councillor Alan Grimadell, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said: "This is good news for Derby residents and their favourite and much loved park."

Pressure mounting on developer to demolish city's eyesore building

Attempts are being made by Derby City Council to encourage a developer to demolish an eyesore building at the centre of Derby.

£15m underspend will help city works this year

Derby City Council spent £15m less than it had budgeted on long-term programmes and buildings during the last financial year.

The authority had budgeted for £86.1m of capital expenditure during 2009-10 but spent £71.1m.
